Book Quotes

“People are gregarious by necessity. Since the days of the first cave dwellers, humans -- hairless, weak, and helpless save for cunning -- have survived by joining together in groups; knowing, as so many other edible creatures have found, that there is protection in numbers. And that knowledge, bred in the bone, is what lies behind mob rule. Because to step outside the group, let alone to stand against it was for uncounted thousands of years death to the creature who dared it. To stand against a crowd would take something more than ordinary courage; something that went beyond human instinct. And I feared I did not have it, and fearing, was ashamed.”
― Diana Gabaldon, Outlander

And this is how we explain the happenings of human society. True bravery is daring to take a step outside what is considered the norm and listening to your own voice. Such were each of the moment I rejected the crowd of crazy youth, for a still night in reflection with my books. The first made me anxious and scared, the second brought me always peace, though I often wondered if I was sane.

The same thing I am trying to apply to this blog. There are countless of book blogs out there. All with their themes and sections. All sections that I found unnecessary for myself. So I am now falling again away from the crowd, trying to listen to my own voice and doing what brings me joy.

Do follow the crowd if it brings you happiness, don’t if you doubt their actions or they don’t sound true inside you.
