NaNoWriMo Day 3

As you probably noticed by the lack of a “day 2” entry, yesterday I did not wrote anything. We had an awesome team day! And since I am off these 2 next days, I was not worry of falling behind. Tomorrow I will try again at a minimum of 3,000 words. Today, however, I accomplished 2,651 words. They were quite the struggle as I attempted to put into words the transition of my character from toddler into a teenager. Adding to it the hideous first menstruation and trying to research how the hell did women managed back in ancient times. (It’s a foggy subject with the repetitive use of the words ‘God’ and ‘sin’.) Though my novel is not exactly fully set in our real historical times, it is based at the moment in a fantasy medieval era, mind you. I’m not trying to be historically accurate, just tool and knowledge-wise accurate.
I have to say it is going pretty well and I am managing better than I expected to incorporate the elements of the other realms into it even though the actual action in those realms is a book away. The hard part is to write about the character from a “I'm growing up but not quite yet there” perspective. And the fact that right now I have them isolated from humanity, makes it a bit boring and challenging to write as NOT boring. Which is actually going awesome. I can’t wait until I get to the part where she meets others and start to struggle with her identity. As you noticed I have a temporary title and cover, just to give it some feel.
See? Writing stories is fun! NaNoWriMo IS fun! And whoever says otherwise, get a hobby and stop reading about things you don’t care about. Let us enjoy our FUN. ;p
